Risk of Rain Switch Desync Issue

Can someone help with this? My brother and I are trying to play Risk of Rain Online Co-Op and we are getting this error every 5 minutes making the game unplayable online. See screenshot below

Have you noticed any consistent event that precedes each occurrence of this error?

Also, you appear to be using the Spirit artifact. Is that always the case?

No and No... I have been trying to test multiple things but nothing seems to be consistent except that on the first game we played together it didnt happened so it could have something to do with having or using other characters
