Re: KOF98UMFE Random crashes
Thanks for the report. We have just issued an update (build 540911) that should address this. Please use Properties->Local Files to verify you have the latest build.Cloud51023 wrote:Faulting application name: KingOfFighters98UM.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x54bacdaa

Re: KOF98UMFE Random crashes
What about the DINPUT8.DLL crashes?
I got a lot of them too.
I have already updated the Nvidia-Driver and reinstalled DirectX. I even got different versions of dinput8.dll and put them in the game-directory. But they are ignored. Both games KOF98 and KOF2002 are still crashing randomly. I don't even have to push a button. Yesterday KOF2002 worked pretty well. Today it's unusable again.
Is there a way to completly disable joysticksupport in the game? Then it would be possible to simply remap the keybord hits to any stick using a tool like JoyToKey.

Re: KOF98UMFE Random crashes
Go to the Launch Options under Properties for the game in Steam and set "-norescan". If the problem persists, try disconnecting the controller before launching and then reconnecting it after (still with "-norescan") to see if that makes a difference. That information may give us something to go on.polaris202 wrote:Is there a way to completly disable joysticksupport in the game? That said, if the crash is in DirectInput, that's your game controller or keyboard driver, not your video driver.

Re: KOF98UMFE Random crashes
I have played KOF2002 a view days now.
I did set the "-norescan" option the way you told me. Most of the time I disconnected the joystick before launching the game, and run JoyToKey. I did not have any more crashes. The same without JoyToKey. Running the game just with "-norescan" seems to work too.
The joystick is the pcb of a cheap usb-joypad, build into a 20 year old Neo Geo board. Worked very well for the last 8 years I did not installed any special drivers. Just Windows 7.
